Westminster is a neighbourhood in southeast London. The housing in the neighbourhood is mainly single detached homes, built in the late 1960s and 1970s, some duplexes and many townhouse complexes. The neighbourhood is located within walking distance of White Oaks Mall, which is a major shopping centre with many transit connections.
The largest park in the neighbourhood is Westminster Optimist Park, which has an outdoor pool, play structure, tennis court, basketball court, and soccer field. Neighbourhood Resource Association of Westminster Park (NRAWP) is located in Westminster Optimist Park and brings programs and services to the neighbourhood for all residents. There are many additional parks in Westminster, including Nicholas Wilson Park, Heritage Park, St. Stephen’s Park, Past Presidents Park, Ebury Park, and Stanhope Park. The Westminster Ponds Environmentally Significant Area is located in the southern portion of the neighbourhood. There are three large ponds in the ESA, with many scenic trails that have great views of the natural beauty of the area.
There are five schools in Westminster, Wilton Grove, Arthur Stringer, Nicholas Wilson, and St. Francis elementary schools, as well as Sir Wilfrid Laurier Secondary School. The Family Centre Westminister is located in the St. Francis Catholic school, where families can access the many services available to them. High School students in the area also attend Regina Mundi Catholic College.
