HALE STREET
DISTRICT

Hale Street District is a neighbourhood in east London centred around Hale Street, from Dundas to Trafalgar.  The neighbourhood was in the area known as Pottersburg until it was annexed by the City of London in 1912.  The Hale Street District boasts a mix of homes built with old world charm from the early 1900s to the 1970s.  The Trinity United Church and Community Centre on Hale Street is a landmark in the community and holds many events.  

 

The neighbourhood park is the north section of Kiwanis Park, which is a fantastic place to walk, jog, cycle, or play sports.  It has mature trees and ample green space for a picnic, a spray pad with washroom amenities, a new play structure, paved walking and cycling pathways, with bridges over the Pottersburg Creek, tennis courts, 2 baseball diamonds, and a large skate park at the Wavell Street entrance.  The local elementary schools, Prince Charles and St. Pius X, are just east of Kiwanis Park, a short walk from the neighbourhood.  Students also attend Clarke Road and John Paul II secondary schools.

 

The Charley Fox Memorial Overpass, at the intersection of Hale and Trafalgar, is London’s first major roundabout and is located on the southern edge of the neighbourhood.
