Byron is characterized by its small town feel and strong sense of community. The commercial heart of the neighbourhood is at Commissioners and Boler, with a commercial corridor and grocery store anchored shopping plaza.  Byron residents love sitting out on one of the many sidewalk patios that line Commissioners, enjoying a hot coffee or a delicious meal at one of the many restaurants.   There is another commercial area at the intersection of Boler and Byron Baseline.  

 

Byron is home to Springbank Park, one of the city’s largest and most beloved parks, which has scenic paths along the river, picnic areas, playgrounds, and Storybook Gardens, a small kids-oriented amusement park. Jorgenson Park is situated in the middle of the residential area, and includes the Byron Optimist Community Centre, a wading pool, swimming pool, tennis courts, soccer field, baseball diamond, and play structures.    

 

The neighbourhood has five elementary schools: Northview, Southwood, Byron Somerset, St. George, and St. Theresa. Saint Thomas Aquinas and Oakridge Secondary Schools are located just outside Byron, and serve students from the neighbourhood. The Byron branch of the London Public Library is located along Commissioners Road.  Byron is also home to Boler Mountain, a winter ski hill that also has mountain biking and treetop adventures in the summer.
